Welcome to the InVogue preview! Here’s a synopsis of what you can do with this theme.
As a Blog
When you install the theme you will have the default blog view activated, it will show your posts as you have published them and automatically add a thumbnail of any images contained within your posts. If you have a gallery as part of your post then it will pick the first image and use it as the thumbnail preview.
You can use this theme in its default “blog” state and use the other custom page templates for any specific uses you have in mind, for instance as a portfolio showcase or as a product showcase, or you can use the “Home” template and make further customizations to it.
As a Portfolio
To enable the Home page template you see on the preview here, simply follow these steps -
- Create a page called “Home” with the template “Home” and publish it.
- Visit your Settings > Reading administration panel.
- Choose to display a static page and choose the “Home” page.
- Save changes, that’s it!
Now go to your blog front page and you will see the layout as seen on this preview.
But wait, there’s more…
You can now customize the way your home page looks via the theme backend options. The options include -
- Which category you want to show in the “Slideshow” area and how many posts from it.
- Edit the custom title to signify More posts.
- Choose another “Featured” category, from which 4 of your latest posts will be shown along with their thumbnails.
The theme is best used with images so make sure you enter them! Preferred sizes are 600px X 340px, however you can upload any size and the theme will output them to stay within those dimensions.
As a Product Showcase
You can follow the same instructions above to set up a product showcase website. Here are some tips on how you can take it a step further.
1. Set up pages with the “Featured Template” and upload as many images as you like.
2. Use the following custom fields -
- “Snippet” – This will show a small snippet beside the images, as shown here.
- “Link” – This will link out to a website/product page (for example an affiliate link). You can edit the text “Visit Website” from the Theme Options area.
Anything Else…
Together with the templates and the custom functionality provided you can pretty much use this theme for a lot of projects. Hope you enjoy using it!
